DIY Blooming Cross

Hello, Friend! It's been awhile! Ready to craft? I call this the Blooming Cross.

Supplies:
  • Wooden board, frame or old cutting board
  • Saw and sand paper (optional)
  • Acrylic paint and brush (optional)
  • Staple gun
  • Fleece or wide burlap ribbon
  • Matching yarn or string
  • Fake floral pieces
  • Scissors
  • Wire cutter
  • Glue gun

I bought 1-foot wide pine boards from Lowes and cut them into 14 to 17-inch sections. Sanded all sides and slightly beveled the edges. The slightly stained-like look comes from acrylic paint! Apple Barrel paint in Pewter Gray and Melted Chocolate. This is how they look with two light coats on the top and sides:

Cut two pieces of fleece, five inches wide and long enough to overlap the sides (vertical and horizontal) of the board. Staple in place. This would be perfect time to add a picture hanger, if desired.

Slightly cinch the overlapping fabric and tie in place with yarn.

Using a scissors and wire cutter, cut apart leaves and stems from artificial flowers. Layer attractively.

Cut away the small stems from the back of the flowers. This will make it a lot easier to glue the flowers into place.

Glue everything into place ...
